1.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account:

- Phone number
- Password (encrypted)
- Role (landlord, property manager, or tenant)
When you use Teknant as a landlord or property manager:
- Property details (addresses, GPS coordinates/live location, administrative location, unit counts, amenities)
- Tenant information (names, contacts, lease agreements, payment records)
- Financial data (rent amounts, payment history, deposit records)
- Document uploads (lease agreements, receipts, property photos)
When you use Teknant as a tenant:
- Phone number (for log in via OTP)
- Tenant ID (assigned by your landlord)
- Residential address and location (GPS coordinates of the property you rent, as provided by your landlord)
- Transactions Details (Transaction records when you pay rent through Teknant)
Note: Your landlord or property manager registers your tenant profile and adds your details. You only need your phone number to log in via OTP.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide our services: Create and manage your account, process rent payments, generate reports, send reminders
- Improve our platform: Analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, develop new features
- Communicate with you: Send transaction confirmations, service updates, security alerts, and customer support responses
- Ensure security: Detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations: Tax reporting, regulatory compliance, law enforcement requests
- Marketing (with consent): Send newsletters, product updates, and promotional offers (you can opt out anytime)

4.1 Within Teknant
- Between landlords and tenants: Landlords can see tenant information for properties they manage. Tenants can see landlord contact information for their rental units.
- Property managers: If you grant access to a property manager, they can view data related to the properties they manage on your behalf.
4.2 Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate Teknant:
- Payment processors: Safaricom (M-Pesa) for processing rent payments
- Cloud hosting: Secure server providers for data storage
- Email services: For sending transactional emails and notifications
- Analytics tools: For understanding how users interact with Teknant (anonymized data only)
All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
